The Flexible Fee model.
CBT-I should be accessible. That belief shapes how sessions are priced, how insurance works, and why your first consultation is free. Clear rates, no fine print, insurance covered where possible.
Session rates range from $135 to $150 depending on scheduling demand. Most BC extended health plans cover counselling by a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and direct billing is available for Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, and many more.
- Sessions: $135 to $150 per 50 to 60 min
- Insurance reimbursement: typical
- Direct billing: PBC, Sun Life, and many more
- First consultation: free (15 minutes)
Pricing designed for access, not gatekeeping.
Chronic insomnia is one of the most common untreated health conditions in the country. Cost is a real barrier to getting CBT-I, and that barrier pushes people toward cheaper options (melatonin, apps, prescription sedatives) that don't actually treat the problem. I don't want cost to be the reason you end up on a sleeping pill for ten years.
The Flexible Fee model is how I've built pricing to reflect that. You pay a lower rate for sessions in lower-demand hours. Insurance is accepted wherever you have it. Direct billing is available for many major BC insurers. And your first fifteen-minute consultation is always free, so you can find out if CBT-I is right for you before any money changes hands.
Reduced-rate spots for those who need them.
Cost should not be the thing that keeps you from treatment. A limited number of sliding scale spots are set aside for people facing real financial barriers to care.
Who it's for
Sliding scale spots are available if you have recently faced job loss, are receiving income assistance or PWD, or are dealing with other extenuating circumstances that prevent access to treatment.
How it works
Sliding scale rates start at a 40% discount and are set based on income. Spots are limited, so availability depends on current capacity. If this applies to you, reach out and we'll talk it through, no lengthy application, just a conversation.
Scheduling incentives: pay less for quieter hours.
Individual appointments are 50 to 60 minutes, delivered virtually. Rates are set on a scheduling-desirability basis, so times in less demand are billed at a lower rate. Booking a 10am weekday slot saves you $25 per session compared to a 6pm weeknight slot.
| Time | Demand | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Weekdays (Monday to Friday) | ||
| 7:00 am to 12:00 pm | Low demand | $135 |
| 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm | Moderate | $145 |
| 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm | Low demand | $135 |
| 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm | High demand | $150 |
| Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) | ||
| 7:00 am to 3:00 pm | High demand | $150 |
All rates are in Canadian dollars. Counselling sessions are GST-exempt, so you don't pay the 5% GST on top of the fee. Scheduling-incentive rates stack with any insurance reimbursement you receive, so the savings add up.
How insurance works with CBT-I in BC.
Most extended health plans in BC cover counselling delivered by a Registered Clinical Counsellor. If that's your situation, you qualify for reimbursement for CBT-I, regardless of which scheduling-incentive rate you book.
Eligibility
If your extended health plan covers services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor, CBT-I with BC CBT-I qualifies for reimbursement. Check your plan for RCC coverage and annual limits before booking.
Direct billing
Available for Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, and many more. If your provider isn't listed, ask at booking. Many common BC plans are supported.
Flexible rates still count
The $135 and $145 slots are fully eligible for insurance reimbursement. Choosing a lower-demand hour doesn't affect your claim.
Payment methods
Debit, credit card, and e-transfer. Payment is collected at the time of each session.
